D3 Team Finals to be held Oct 29-Nov 1
After careful consideration by both the host track and the IHRA, the decision has been made to move the event to the weekend of October 31st. The availability of the facility along with staffing the event from both the facility and IHRA standpoint has dictated only one viable choice.
“This has been a trying time,” said Division Director Jon O’Neal. “The bracket finals events are things that we hold near and dear to our hearts. It’s tough to have to pull the plug on an event that we know racers plan for all year. Picking a date has been a delicate endeavor but there aren’t many options left for such a late event.”
“With the necessity of running the Summit Super Series before the World Finals, one small beacon of hope came about in running an event so late in the season,” said Vice President Skooter Peaco. “We were able to relax the schedule and reduce a day on-site in order to deal with the predicted later start and end times. Hopefully this will help those deciding if they can manage the extra time off work.”
IHRA Division 3 bracket finals updated schedule
Pittsburgh Raceway Park will play host to 8 tracks from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, and, for the first time, Delaware, as US13 travels west for the IHRA Division 3 North Stars Bracket Finals. Racing is for the bracket teams' members only; there is no open test and tune or regular racing this weekend. Spectators and crew are welcome! For those new to PRP, the radio station is 91.5 FM, and there are turnoffs and ticket booths on each side of the track. The entrance directly off of Route 22 (aka the motocross entrance) will be used all weekend, not the gates on Stone Jug Road. Coming from the west on Route 22, the gate is about 3/4 mile from the Route 22/981 junction (Sheetz on the corner). Coming from the east on Route 22, you will have to pass the track, then use the U turn lane to come back to the entrance gate. From the light at Route 22 and Stone Jug Road, the U turn road is about 1 mile, and it is a left turn.

2015 PRP points champions
Saturday, September 19, was scheduled to be the last points day of the 2015 season, but Mother Nature made her presence known once again during the second time trial session. The pushed the last points day for the big cars to Sunday, September 20. Only 2 classes were decided without questions, and the rest were settled on Sunday. Congratulations to all, and to all of Team PRP!
Silver Mine Coin & Collectible Junior Dragsters:
8-11 year olds:
Great points chase with Jaden, Sabrina Duche, Kyle Penn, and Tyler Pennington making a push on the last day. Jaden was tied for first with Sabrina going into the last day, and wins the class to get the championship in his first year of racing!
12-17 year olds:
Jamie McBride Jr
Jamie goes into the older group, and wins his second straight championship! He is also the junior dragster Summit Super Series respresentative for PRP.
Millerstown Pic A Part Trophy Class:
Kaleb Kelly, 1993 Mustang
Back to back championships!
Z&M Cycles Motorcycle Class:
Matt Powell, 2004 Honda 1000RR
Matt wins his 4th title in a row, 5th overall, and is the Summit Super Series no box representative!
B&R Speed Supply Street Class:
Mark Brewer Jr, 1992 Mustang
3rd straight year Mark wins a class championship!
Mike's Auto Body Top Class:
Rich ran dead on all season, multi time champ, and is the Summit Super Series box representative!
Latrobe Auto Group Modified Class:
Scotty Campbell, 1966 Chevelle
Like in 2011, Bill Turk's sweet '66 Chevelle bails Scotty out after engine damage in his Camaro. This was a drama filled finish. Scotty had a 2 point lead on Mike Egan going into the last day. Scotty loses first round. Mike wins, then wins second round to tie Scotty. Mike loses third round, and now they are in a winner take all run off. Mike leaves first with a .019, and Scotty is .017. Scotty takes the stripe by .0008, and gets the win by .0014 in a double breakout!
